5a: Starting with the SDGs

Climate Action is an important part of the UN SDGs.  The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), also called Global Goals which the United Nations has set.  Climate Action both has its own goal (SDG13) and is also interconnected with the other SDGs.

Each of the Sustainable Development  Goals has its own set of specific targets designed to achieve the goal. These are targets agreed by the UN for national governments and civil society to deliver. They are written in a language that’s not easy for young people to understand of course.

Taking language and the ideas, and converting them into learning outcomes  can be a difficult process. We’re going to be looking at this in the next section.

We’ve used the goals, together with the work of climate change specialists as starting point to create our big ideas.
