How does change happen?

We know that we need swift and effective change to prevent the worst effects of the climate crisis.  However, we have seen there are lots of factors, including strong emotional and psychological ones, which block effective change, at an individual and societal level, even where change is clearly in everyone’s interests.

However, we also know that the solutions are there and that change is possible.  When we decide to act, it is possible to do so swiftly and drastically, in a way which brings about change across a whole society – as behaviours during the pandemic demonstrated.

But what drives change?  Who is acting on climate change? What helps movements for change succeed?
