Dr Chris Smith’s research links climate modelling to energy supply and energy demand, with the aim of improving the feedbacks between integrated assessment models and climate change. He is one of the main developers of the FaIR simple climate model, in collaboration with Oxford University. FaIR was used in the IPCC’s Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5 degrees C to provide projections of climate change from hundreds of socioeconomic scenario pathways. He is a chapter scientist and contributing author for the IPCC’s 6th Assessment Report Working Group 1
